Hair forms an integral part of our life, and taking care of it is essential to avoid hair fall, dandruff, itchy scalp and various other issues. I did all sorts of experiments with my hair in my teens, from hair smoothening to colouring. The amount of damage this caused my hair took me months to recover. Better late than never, I learnt a lesson not to take your tresses for granted.
Before we dive into the hair care routine, I would like to share a few general tips with you guys.
Tip 1: Never wash your hair with extremely hot water.
Tip 2: Always shampoo your scalp more and condition the length of the hair more.
Tip 3: Indulge in weekly hair care routines at home; give your hair the attention and nourishment it needs.
Tip 4: If you have an oily scalp, ensure to wash your hair every two days, and if otherwise, then every three days.
Tip 5: Always use shampoos and conditioners that are low on chemicals to keep your scalp and hair healthy.

Previously I shared my experience with Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil – I still do that routine every week, and you guys should consider doing it too.
Today’s hero ingredient is ‘Honey’, used in two different combinations. Let’s dive in!
1. Honey & Aloe Vera
Honey: 1 tbsp.
Fresh Aloe Vera Gel: 2 tbsp.
Coconut Oil: 2 tbsp.
Aloe vera is my forever favourite. Combine all three ingredients and mix well till you get a smooth consistency. Apply the mask evenly, starting with your scalp and then moving to the length of your hair. Let this hair mask sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water and mild shampoo and conditioner. Honey is rich in antioxidants that condition your hair and prevent breakage and damage. Honey and aloe vera have proved to keep the moisture intact, giving your tresses their natural bounce.
2. Honey & Yoghurt
Honey: 4 tbsp.
Yoghurt: 2 tbsp.
Mix both the ingredients. If your hair requires more quantity, add the respective ingredients in the same ratio. Blend the mixture well to get a smooth consistency. Apply this mask starting from the roots of your hair to the tips. Let this hair mask sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water and mild shampoo and conditioner. Yoghurt is full of protein that offers nourishment, which the hair needs for proper growth. When combined with honey, it can help control hair fall, get rid of dandruff and give your hair its natural shine.
Whenever you use a hair mask and are unsure how long to keep it applied, always go for 15 minutes. I opt for different hair masks every week. Sunday is mostly my hair care day, where I pick one type of mask to pamper my hair. Any mask you pick, use it once a week.
